In late February 2026 Trump started the war in Iran and ever since gas prices have skyrocketed, Trump's approval rating is struggling to hit 45% and hasn't been above 50% since October 2025 according to Rasmussen Report's daily Presidential Job Approval and it's looking likely it will be a Republican wipeout in November, how did this happen? Well it's because of multiple factors like broken promises but the biggest reason is the Iran War which Trump said would be over in 4-6 weeks but has now been going for nearly 9 months, Trump believes this is because Iran wants to drag it out to the midterms I doubt that, Trump just wants control of the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump strongly denies polls and I understand why, they got 2016 seriously wrong but since then they have drastically improved how they do their polls and they are much more reliable now, even the approval poll that Trump boasted about getting 57% approve on back in September 2025 shows he is now at 42% approval as of October 2nd 2026. The Iran War is worsen one of the biggest issues Americans are facing, gas prices which have skyrocketed since the Iran War started and we have seen that here in Australia too where our petrol prices, especially diesel, have skyrocketed causing the government having to do something they rarely ever do, halving the fuel excise, anyways back to the US.

Trump is clearly scared of losing the midterms, he has been going to states that are usually strongly red like Oklahoma, he denies that he is scared of losing it but I think he doing that because if he said yes it would damage his image, we see this in Texas where he is obviously scared of losing it to progressive Democratic James Talarico which Trump called "Talafreako" and claimed he ran a campaign to "beat meat" which is mostly true but he didn't call it "beat meat", it was a campaign in his office where he bought vegan products to replace any meat products at his office.

James Talarico has said some insane things in the past like "God is non-binary" or saying he loves trans children which the Republicans are using against him but it doesn't seem to be affecting him in the polls with a Fox News Poll showing he is beating his Republican challenger 51-49.

In conclusion my opinion is Trump must end the Iran War if he wants a chance to win the midterms.
