OPINION: The Death of Labor just helps the Greens

Over the last few months us at TNews have been doing map after map after map based on primary vote from polls and these maps show a collapse in Labor seats sure but where are they going? Well they aren't just going to One Nation, they are also going to the Greens and Independents, these results prove that primary vote staying around the same doesn't mean same amount of seats, it can mean that they lose or gain seats. For example the latest Roy Morgan Poll released on Monday the 24th of August showed the Greens only gained 2 points from the last election but the map we did based off that poll using the preferences from DemosAU July 2026 MRP preference flows and it showed the Greens would skyrocket from 1 to 13 seats, our political analysts are guessing this comes from dropping Labor support which has lost 8 points from the last election and went from 94 to 65 seats, that's a shocking loss of 29 seats which 12 of those were gained by the Greens.

This is being severely underreported on by the media and it should be talked about more, even that July 2026 DemosAU MRP showed the Greens would go from 1-3 seats but the media aren't talking about this.

This also proves the 2025 collapse of Greens support is only because of Labor's landslide majority. Personally I am not happy about this as I'd prefer a Labor majority over a Labor-Greens minority government any day and the Roy Morgan map shows that if Labor teamed up with the Greens then it would be a Labor-Greens minority government with a 78 seat majority.
